During my stay at S48 Chiang Mai, I discovered it to be a hidden gem. While it's slightly outside the main town area, this could either be a drawback or a feature depending on your preferences. The distance lends it a serene atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle, making it ideal for those seeking a peaceful retreat. Yet, it’s close enough to the city that attractions remain accessible. There is a beautiful temple park where one can also spend time mediating. It is about 10 minutes walk. Excellent staff. Excellent WiFi. Location and Accessibility S48 is situated a bit out of town, providing a quieter environment. For those wanting to explore Chiang Mai, transportation options like Grab are readily available and affordable. Trips to central locations or attractions such as the Old City or the Night Bazaar are straightforward and cost-effective. Dining Options While the hotel itself offers dining options, the nearby Lupin Café Plus provides a more diverse menu in a cozy setting. For budget travelers, supermarkets are within an 8-minute walk, offering a variety of snacks and meal options. Preparing your breakfast or enjoying a casual meal at the hotel can be a convenient choice. Cultural and Natural Attractions The highlight of the area is its proximity to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, perched on Doi Suthep mountain. The temple is a must-visit for its stunning architecture and panoramic views of Chiang Mai. Another hidden gem is Wat Pha Lat, a serene temple nestled in the jungle, perfect for those looking to escape the crowds. These attractions are accessible via affordable taxi or Grab rides, with costs averaging $15 USD for a half-day trip. Overall Experience S48 Chiang Mai offers a peaceful, off-the-beaten-path experience for those who value tranquility and don't mind being slightly removed from the city center. Its location might feel inconvenient to some but can also be a refreshing change from the usual tourist hubs.

The breakfast was amazing! Both choices with thai food and western food (who wants that when in -Thailand?). ONE cups of coffee from a coffee machine was included. That can feel very limited for europeans, but it´s better than just instant coffee. There were tea and instant coffee available, as much as you wanted. Amazing access to eggs and fresh fruits every day. The juices were NOT fresh, but processed juices. I loved that the thai food optiones varied from day to day, and that there were both vegetables, rice, noodles and a fish / seafood or meat alternative. The staff was very friendly! I liked very much the location of the hotel. Outside of the noisy city centre, but only 10-15 minutes away from the city centre with taxi/car. In an area with lots of restaurants and coffee shops in 10 - 30 minutes walking distance. The cleanliness of the rooms was amazing! Every day, perfect house keeping! I LOVED the little pool outside of the hotel, to take swims, and relaxing in the sun. The price was very good for what you get in this hotel. The wifi in the rooms was good enough. There was also a refrigerator and a water boiler in the room. And every day a refill of small water bottles, and instant coffee and tea. THANK YOU for that.

The property is beautiful, staff attentive. I stayed almost two weeks. When I first arrived, the person at the desk changed my room to be as far away from smokers as possible when I mentioned I could smell smoke in the lobby and was allergic. The property was also out of the flooding area which was great. Chiang Mai had the worst flooding in at least 30 years but this place never had water issues. I was injured as a result of something that happened in the flood water away from the property and the staff was so helpful, so attentive. The person who cleaned my room daily Ging I think, helped me get to a cab when heading to the hospital when I could barely walk only hop. Upon leaving, She must have seen me struggling with my luggage , and when I came from settling my bill, she had carried all my bags out for me. That was the best stay I ever had, the people and the property are amazing. I had a great interaction with every staff member. I don’t think I have ever stayed in a place where I was in years to leave. It’s no joke, I was trying to get away so fast so they wouldn’t see me crying, I highly recommend!!!!

I booked s48 because during rainy season, the price drops significantly. The hotel is quite empty when I arrived. The taxi dropped me off and I stood in the parking lot, the entrance to the main lobby was hard to find (its actually next to the pool) Justing from the exterior, the staircases, and the hallway, the hotel felt old and the general construction lacking. But once inside the room, I realized this hotel was grand. The rooms were superior, bed had comfortable high quality sheets, the headboard was made of intricate carved wood. The modern light fixtures emitted cozy warm light. The A/C blew cold clean air (no stench) the bathroom didn't have the smell of sewage (common in thailand) which means the plumbing was installed correctly. Someone designed the hotel and didn't spare any expense. The water pressure was fantastic. I got hot water every time. The infinity pool was fantastic. With nobody around, I felt like i had the pool to myself both times. What an experience to swim in the rain at night. The water was clean, without the smell of chlorine.

The pool is nice and gets day long sun..but the loungers are fixed position... no possibility to lie flat or on your front. The rooms are nicely appointed but a little odd... there's a seating area at the front with full length windows but the main room has zero windows... its uninviting. Comfortable bed but rock hard pillows! The shower is above a bathtub... which flexes badly as you stand in it. The water pressure is inconsistent so the flow speeds up and slows down. No shower curtain. Lovely staff. Location is okay if you have transport but it's right next to a very busy main road... plenty of traffic noise.
